The product problem
Custom-product commerce needs more than a product grid. Buyers need configuration, quote paths, proof of options, support, and confidence that an order can become a real manufactured item.
What GCG delivered
GCG took over an existing codebase from a previous development team. The storefront's front end started from a third-party theme, and GCG's work covers the commerce, quote, proof, and infrastructure layers. The delivered work includes:
- A development environment with deployment-ready cloud infrastructure, separate from production
- A proof upload, customer email notification, change request, and approval system
- Infrastructure efficiency work
How it works
Designer and catalog. Customers build a custom lanyard in a designer and browse a catalog. Product options cover attachment styles, sizes, and badge and keychain variants.
Quotes and checkout. Customers can request a quote from the cart, which the backend sends by email. Checkout runs through Stripe and PayPal. The backend places orders and captures PayPal payments.
Proof approval. Proofs are uploaded for the customer to review, and the customer can respond to a proof or request a change. Customers get email notifications along the way.
Pricing. Pricing rules and a price chart are managed in the backend.
AI support. A LangChain and LangServe service answers customer questions. Gemini parses each query and detects product questions. A fine-tuned OpenAI model handles general questions as the fallback.
